Charles Lewis Tiffany (1812-1902) fundó la joyería Tiffany´s & Co., que es actualmente la más prestigiosa y famosa del mundo. Charles Tiffany nació en un pueblo de Estados Unidos el 15 de febrero de 1812. En el año 1837 se trasladó a Nueva York. Con su amigo John Young y un capital de 1000 dólares que le habían dejado, abrió una pequeña tienda al sur de Broadway donde vendía artículos de papelería, paraguas, vajillas... un poco de todo. El primer día cerraron la caja con unas ventas de 4,98$.
